skydiverAnarta Fall posted a comment about a video that the Myst Dancers recently made to promote the new Myst sim in Second Life. The dance was choreographed using an EZ Animator Deluxe! Take a look:

How do you dance in SecondLife (part III)?

I found another neat video from the showgirl underground in Second Life. The group is called Showgirls & Burlesque and they have a channel on youtube. This one is a more of a short movie than simply capturing a performance, complete with some touches of dialogue and storytelling. And I’m told they also use the HUDDLES EZ Animator Deluxe to coordinate those dance moves.

Svetlana Mosienko: YES we use EZAD! Don’t know what we would do without it:)

How do you dance in SecondLife (part II)?

Friday, April 10th, 2009

Last year I blogged about Phoenixa Sol and how she used 8 Quick Pose HUDs at once to create unique dance routines. Well I was recently sent a link to a video by a dance group who uses an EZ Animator Deluxe to choreograph their shows:

Tweeting about HUDDLES

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Although, I haven’t been a user of twitter before, I got to thinking about how one might update a twitter stream from a LSL script in Second Life. It took me a little time to figure it out, but it seems quite easy. Someone posted a solution to the Second Life forums a couple years back.

The key line of code is this:

llHTTPRequest(“http://” + llEscapeURL(user) + “:”+llEscapeURL(password) + “@twitter.com/statuses/update.xml”, [HTTP_METHOD, "POST", HTTP_MIMETYPE, "application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8"], “status=”+llEscapeURL(msg));

User is your twitter name, password is your password and msg is the message you want to send.

I’m thinking that it might be nice to add this to the EZ Animator Deluxe, but I’m wondering if anyone would use it and what features would they want. What do you think?

Oh, by the way, you can follow me on twitter, my name is KeikiAtHuddles.

Version 1.3.0 of the EZ Animator Deluxe is Ready

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

I have now released version 1.3.0 of the EZ Animator Deluxe. There have been no changes from the Release Candidate version that I set out a week and a half ago. So if you already updated to version 1.3.0 Release Candidate, there is no reason for you to do this update.

To get the latest update, go to the update area underneath HUDDLES Headquarters. Use the following SLURL to get there directly:

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Animation%20Island/120/82/28/

Once there, click on the green ball to get the updater object. Rez it and follow the directions that are on the object. The directions are also on this website. And if you want to see what has changed since 1.2.1, check out the change log.

First Release Candidate of Version 1.3.0 of the EZ Animator Deluxe

Monday, February 9th, 2009

There is a new test version of the EZ Animator Deluxe available to current owners. This is a bug fix upgrade. Also, the main scripts have all been recompiled using mono which should improve performance.

If you have an EZ Animator Deluxe, head to HUDDLES Headquarters. The update area is directly below the store on the island. Use the following SLURL to get there directly:

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Animation%20Island/120/82/28/

Once there, click the orange ball to get your updater object. Rez it on the ground and follow the directions right on the updater:

Can I use couples dance animations in the EZ Animator Deluxe?

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

Well, the answer is maybe. Ok, let me explain what I mean.

When people talk about couples dance animations, they are usually talking about the syncronised pose balls you see on the floor at many clubs. They are slow dances or salsas or some other dance, they are designed to work inside poseballs and getting them to work in a HUD is often either difficult or impossible.

The reason they work in poseballs is because you can easily align two avatars correctly with a set of poseballs. In order for the avatars to look like they are dancing together, you really want them in just the right position with just the right rotation.

Now, HUDs can handle some syncronised animations, but they need to be designed to work with them. The best example of this is a hug animation. When you initiate a hug, the two avatars are squished together and the animation begins. These hug animations are designed to look right if the avatars are facing each other and squished together.

HUDDLES EZ Animator Deluxe v1.2.1: I don’t understand

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

About a week after we went final with version 1.2.1, someone pointed out that there is a problem with the listener that is on channel 7. The listener is part of the flight assist script. I left the listener as is, not wanting to break the script (an open source script that I incorporated with permission from the author).

The problem is that when you say something on channel 7 that the HUD doesn’t understand, it gives you the feedback:

EZ Animator Deluxe version 1.2.1 is done!

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

After some minor bug fixes to the last release candidate, I have decided to make the final release of version 1.2.1 of the EZ Animator Deluxe. To get yours, go to the update area below HUDDLES Headquarters on Animation Island. The green ball contains the updater, be sure to click on that. The blue box has a fresh copy of the HUD if you wish to grab one. And the pink prism has some extras you might want to grab if you are updating from a version before 1.2.0.

The directions for updating are here.

What’s new?

  • A button to sit on the ground anywhere
  • Flight assist
  • Improvements to the hugger
  • New commands like /99set name
  • A way to play macros by their name
  • New macro tags – [NO_DANCE], [TARGET_LAST] and [TARGET_FIRST]
  • Generally faster and more efficient dancing
  • Numerous small bug fixes

You can read the release notes on the web, however they may be incomplete. More documentation is in the works.
If you have previously upgraded to one of the Release Candidates, just come grab the final and run it again.
