Choosing Your Walk, Sits and Ground Sits

Like stands, you may add multiple walks, sits and ground sits to your AO notecard. However there is a hard limit of 12 for each of these categories. Unlike stands, these types of animations are not designed to cycle from one to another. Instead, you can choose which walk, sit or ground sit you want to use. To choose click one of the three buttons in the bottom row of the AO buttons (as seen below). And then choose which animation you want to use from the blue drop down menu.

You may only have one of all the other types of animations on your AO notecard.

If you are reading this page using the Google translator, please note that macro commands like [NAME] and [WHISPER] only work if use the English word in the brackets and not the translated word. Be sure to view the page in English to make sure you are using the correct command in your macros.

i was using a vista AO..”supavalue fem v1″ and it allows you to sit on the ground anywhere..you just click groundsit and it sits you down where u stand. That’s the only thing i regret losing now that it’s all loaded into the HUddles. Will you be adding that option in the future? would be terrific if u did.

Vote #2 for this, please. I want a Force Sit, specifically a forced groundsit. I’ve been pretty happy with my EZ Plus, but the lack of a forced groundsit is making me consider otherwise. I’d also like a paired-down version: dances, AO and sits. That’s it. I don’t use the macros or the gestures, and I definitely don’t use the poofs. The LM function is cool, but I find that sometimes it takes too long to load a notecard. I might as well just go click it in my INV.

    Thanks for the help!

I guess I’ve resisted this feature because I’ve always thought, that is what the regular buttons are for. If you want to play an animation, you click the button on the HUD. If I add this, why not add more buttons for say a “jump”, etc. But I do realize that this is wanted. It’s probably because people are used to being able to sit anywhere in a game like WoW. I’ll consider adding it. Thanks for the input.

I add to the huddles an animation for swimming and floating into the water, but it seems to doesn’t work well… each time that i go in the water and try to float (usin F key to fly) the avatar comes out from the water or not fit on the line of water to swim… maibe u have to add a button to swim whit a dedicated script to fix this little bug, and maibe u can add a notecard to select different stile of swim and float into the water… little consideration from an avatar that like to swim 🙂

  5. Keiki Lemieux Says:

Unfortunately “swimming” in SL using most AO scripts doesn’t work like it really should. “Swimming” in SL is technically just “Flying” underwater. The controls and speed of movement work exactly like flying. That’s why it feels and behaves like flying instead of swimming. To get realistic swimming you have to go beyond the capabilities of a normal AO and get something like Siggy’s Swimmer HUD available at his water world island. That not only plays the right animations, but it forces your avatar to float on the surface of the water and moves you at a speed that is much closer to actual swimming.

At this time I have no plans to try to incorporate this into the standard AO. Quite simply, there is not enough memory left for the AO script to incorporate these features.

This is not about walk, sit, and ground sit, but is a stand up animation.
I bought a stand up animation from Sine Wave. wrote a note card for animation override. All the other AO animation works fine except for stand up animation. It get cut off in the middle. It seems as the time allowed to play stand up animation is less the stand up animation itself.

is there a way to play longer stand up animation fully, not getting cut off in the middle?

  7. Keiki Lemieux Says:

Unfortunately, Sine Wave made their landing/stand up animation too long. I’m guessing they didn’t test it using standard AOs. It’s longer than the avatar actually spends in that “state” and that’s why it doesn’t work correctly with standard AO scripts. So in short, there is no way to correct for it without rewriting the the AO script.

I pick my ground sit and it all works like it should but i’m sitting a good distance above the ground how do i fix this.

  9. Keiki Lemieux Says:

Ebuz, the only way to fix it is to change the height of your avatar or have the animator fix the animation in poser and upload it again.

  10. Fur Yifu Says:

Hi sweetie! I have the reverse problem. When I sit on the ground, I am about a foot underground. Is there a way a adjust this. What about a height adjust menu?
I cannot change my av size, nor can i imagine the animator (VISTA), doing a custom build for me!

What about forced sit (as mentioned above). This seems always to know where ground level is a duly compensate regardless of av size or animation defaults.

  11. Keiki Lemieux Says:

When you make a ground sit animation in Poser or some other program, you have to adjust the hips to force the avatar down to the ground. For instance, you might shift the avatar down by 2/3 of a meter. This amount is fixed and cannot be changed once you save the animation and upload it to Second Life.

Now Second Life does adjust this 2/3 of a meter somewhat depending on your height, but it doesn’t do a good job. So if you have a relatively large avatar, or one that is quite small, you are going to either float above the floor or sink into it.

There is no other solution besides getting the animator to make a second version tailored to your height, a script cannot change how far above the ground you float.

I have used the Huddles for a couple of years now. I am having a problem with my sit that is loaded. When I sit on the ground or in a chair, I float several meters over the ground or object. That is why I am here in helps looking at this section. I have not found how to correct this. If there is another section here in help I need to be at would you please direct me?
