Transferring an AO to your HUDDLE EZ Animator Deluxe

Back to HELP

To transfer an AO to your EZ Animator Deluxe, you want to first transfer the animations and then transfer the AO notecard.

If the AO notecard from your old AO resembles the AO_default notecard with tags that look like “[ Standing ]” and “[ Walking ]“, then it is already formatted for the ZHAO II script (the AO script which the EZAD uses). You can simply move the notecard into the EZAD and change the name of the notecard. The notecard must have “AO” in the name, and it must be capitalized. This is how the EZAD knows that a notecard is for the AO or not. For instance any of these names would work:

  • AO Keiki
  • Keiki’s AO
  • ~AO Notecard
  • AO

However, many AO notecards use an older format used with the Franimation AO script or the first ZHAO script. The notecard would resemble this (see image below), then you will need to convert the notecard to the new format.
Franimation style notecard
If you do try to use an older style notecard, you will see the following message:

EZ Animator: Could not recognize token on line 0: :: [ Walking (also Striding) 1 ] ::. This may mean that this notecard is in the wrong format. Please refer here for more help: http://imakehuddles.com/wordpress/?page_id=91

Here is how you transfer your old AO notecard to the EZAD:

  1. Drag the AO notecard from your old AO into your inventory.
  2. Search your inventory for an object named “ZHAO-II Notecard Converter.” You should have gotten one in the box with the EZAD v1.2.0. Drag the notecard converter onto the ground.
  3. Drag the AO notecard from your inventory into the ZHAO-II Notecard Converter. When you do this, the converter will generate the text needed for the new notecard. If you get an error, the problem might be on the first line of the notecard.
  4. Open your chat history, and copy the text between the blank lines.
    conversion text for ZHAO-II
  5. Paste the text into a new notecard in your inventory.
  6. Rename the notecard something that contains the letters “AO” capitalized. Then drop the new notecard into your new EZAD 1.2.0.
  7. Take your EZAD v1.2.0 and wear it.
  8. Use the Load AO Notecard button to select your new AO notecard.
If you are reading this page using the Google translator, please note that macro commands like [NAME] and [WHISPER] only work if use the English word in the brackets and not the translated word. Be sure to view the page in English to make sure you are using the correct command in your macros.

I got this error when I added a stand called *SLC*STAND51(P2) to my ZHAO II. This wasn’t a notecard conversion – just a pose with an odd name, which I assume is screwing up the syntax. You might want to add a second link somewhere to the page explaining what characters are allowed in the notecard. Thanks!

  2. thaumata strangelove Says:

For what it’s worth, I just missed a space. (Bound to happen with over 30 stands in my AO, but still funny because I am always griping at people with ‘broken’ AOs to check their spacing.)

I’ve been in SL 2.5 years now and your product is the best thing I’ve ever bought, hands down. Thank you so much for all your hard work.

  3. Keiki Lemieux Says:

@Thaumata, thank you so much :)

  4. Absinthe Menges Says:

I’ve converted my Zhao card and renamed it simply AO DNA, placed it into my new Huddles but when I load, it isn’t an option at all. I have all the anims already inside but it’s like it doesn’t even see the notecard. No error messages.

  5. Keiki Lemieux Says:

@Absinthe, perhaps you are hitting the “Load Notecard” button instead of the “Load AO Notecard” button. You have to use the flip button to go to the AO controls and then hit that button that looks like a computer disk. If that is not the problem, IM me in world.

  6. Pounamu Kohime Says:

    Hi Keiko

When I load my AO notecard, it can’t find the animations in my huddles, though they are there. I’m sure I’ve spelt them correct after looking and looking many times, and the spaces are correct also (I think!). Anyways here’s the msg I get:

[1:48] EZ Animator: Warning: Couldn’t find animation ‘A&A vampstand1′ in inventory.
[1:48] EZ Animator: Warning: Couldn’t find animation ‘A&A vampstand2′ in inventory.
[1:48] EZ Animator: Warning: Couldn’t find animation ‘A&A vamplanding’ in inventory.

To give an example of the name of one of the animations:

    A&A_vamphover1

Does the huddles read a dash? Such as ‘_’? Though it’s typed into the notecard, I just noticed in cut n pasting here the dash is absent.

Thanks for your help in advance.

  7. Keiki Lemieux Says:

Pounamu, if it says it can’t find the animation, it’s because something doesn’t match. It probably is that _ symbol instead of a space. When in doubt use this method:

To get the exact name of the animation, you can right click on it and choose properties. An info window will pop up and you can copy the animation name directly from that pop up by using Ctrl-C. You can then paste the name of the animation directly into the notecard using Ctrl-V.

Thats the Question is.. Must i copy/transfer tje animations in the Huddles ?!? MfG bigjr Slade

  10. Keiki Lemieux Says:

Yep, you need to move/copy all those animations into the HUDDLE.

  11. tishacious Says:

Can i add a typing animation to the AO card? I put [ Typing ]typing animation override on line 23, hit the disk, and loaded, but doesn’t recognize it?

  12. Lamertree Allen Says:

hi i just upgraded from 1.1.3 and cannot find ZHAO-II Notecard Converter to update my ~AO_mail notecard. I get Could not recognize token on line 0: :: [ Walking (also Striding) 1 ] ::. message. How can i sort this please

  13. Keiki Lemieux Says:

Ok go back to Animation Island where the updater is given out. You want to go directly below HUDDLES Headquarters, down to the island floor. There is a green ball there which distributes the Updater Kit when you click on it. Next to the updater is a pink prism. Click that and you should get various things like converter and the default notecard.

  14. Gabel Vesperia Says:

I loaded my ao into the ez animator deluxe and it worked fine listed all the names of the poses for the ao .. then i loaded all my dances and it worked fine no problems but when i flip to the ao part and click the disk to load my ao it just keeps loading the dances as a list of animations and i have my ao note card named ao and my dance note card named dances.. the ao dies work just wont list the names of each pose… any help be appreciated

  15. Keiki Lemieux Says:

Ok, Gabel, let me try to explain. When you load your AO notecard, it should not change the text on the buttons. What is happening is the animation names are loading into the memory of the AO script. The AO script then handles playing those animations automatically based on your settings and based on what you are doing at the time. That’s the whole point of an AO, to handle things like sits, stands and walks automatically.

Dance notecards are different, they load and change the buttons on the HUDDLE so that you can choose when to play them.

  16. Gabel Vesperia Says:

    ok got it thanks =)

  17. Ethen Drechsler Says:

Is it possible to set a macro that will load one notecard of AO animations in preference to another?

I have an avatar that uses two animation overrides for different stlyes of movement. It’s controlled by another hud that switches between the two sets, which is just too many devices for my peace of mind.

I copied the animations from both AOs into my Huddles along with two notecards – “Crawling” and “Standing” – but the avatar also requires a particle script, which needs to be activated/deactivated accordingly.

  18. Keiki Lemieux Says:

Yes. Lets say the AO notecards for your two AOs were “AO1″ and “AO2″. What you could do is have a macro notecard loaded that had as two of it’s macros:

    AO1
    AO2

When you press the button to play the macro with the AO notecard name, the EZ Animator will load that notecard. Since the name includes “AO” in it, it will tell the AO script to load the configuration from that notecard. When it’s done loading you will still see the AO1 & AO2 listed on the buttons and you could switch again by hitting the other one.

I’m not sure what you mean about requiring a particle script.

  19. Ethen Drechsler Says:

Thanks for that Keiki. I’ll try this.

The particle script I mentioned is an an emitter that is worn separately and it creates a cloud of black smoke, which partially conceals the avatar as it crawls about. This is switched off for the set of standing/walking animations. Getting the particle emitter to behave differently between the two macros shouldn’t be a problem and you helped me out on that in the SL Scripting Forum a few months back.

Using the same method I can presumably add commands on a listen channel in each macro to activate/deactivate the particles.

  20. Ethen Drechsler Says:

I tried the solution you suggested above, Keiki, but the various combinations I tried don’t work.

For example, I would like to run something like this:

    [NAME]Crawl|get-down-animation|1.5|[~AO_Crawling]|[105]smoke_on
    [NAME]Stand|stand-up-animation|1|[~AO_Standing]|[105]smoke_off

When the ‘Crawl’ button is clicked, the macro plays a short animation for 1.5 seconds where the avatar dives into the ground, the Crawling AO is activated and a particle emitter worn by the avatar emits a heavy cloud of black smoke which partially conceals it.

When the ‘Stand’ button is clicked, the macro plays a short animation for 1 second where the avatar stands up gracefully, the Standing AO is activated and the cloud of smoke evaporates.

Am I missing something here or does the macro have to be exclusively for an AO notecard and nothing else in this case?

  21. Keiki Lemieux Says:

You don’t want to have brackets around the name of the notecard. It should be this I think:

    [NAME]Crawl|get-down-animation|1.5|~AO_Crawling|[105]smoke_on
    [NAME]Stand|stand-up-animation|1|~AO_Standing|[105]smoke_off

  22. Ethen Drechsler Says:

Great. That does it. I was thinking of the [AO_ON] and [AO_OFF] instruction.

It looks as though I need to hack the ‘get-down-animation’ and the ‘stand-up-animation’ into the ZHAO script, however. What happens is that the animation will play and then there’s a delay of several seconds before the appropriate animation override kicks in. So the avatar dives into the ground, for instance when the crawl button is clicked, then it stands up for a bit before the crawl animation notecard is loaded and it unceremoniously snaps back onto the ground.

  23. Haverlock Borkotron Says:

Well I have one of these things and mine is about to go in the avoid like the plague box.

I have a working ZHAO-II AO works really well but I figured this would be an upgrade I could use.

How wrong I was the notecard is new style but the HUDDLES will not read it so I made up a new notecard which in the end loaded fine I have the anims in the names on the notecard are right but nothing seems to be recognised
It may well be me doing something wrong but since th einstructions do not seem to cover doing anything other than what I have done I conclude its a waste of time and money

  24. Keiki Lemieux Says:

Haverlock, thank you for IMing me as well. I think you will find that I will gladly help you in world and track down the problem you are having. If you were using a ZHAO II before, the transition should be straight forward. I will be happy to troubleshoot the problem for you. The following will help me figure out what is going on:

    1. Send me the notecard you are trying to use.
    2. Send me the exact text of any error you are getting when you try to load the notecard.
    3. I may need to meet up with you and take a peek into your HUD.

I look forward to getting you sorted.

  25. megz Says:

I just bought the new AO from vista and wanted to add it to my WONDERFUL huddles. It works great as always but one question… are there any plans of adding a line in the zhao script for a typing override? I get the following error when I load the notecard from vista into my huddles:

EZ Animator: Could not recognize token on line 24: [ Typing ]typex

  26. Keiki Lemieux Says:

It’s something I will look into, but I don’t like the standard implementations of this that I’ve seen. I need to get a deeper into that AO script and understand what is going on in order to implement it.

  27. Nottoo Wise Says:

I just upgraded my HUD to the new version. When I load my notecard i get a message that there is no ~AO_default. It’s right I don’t have it. The problme is when i load my main notecard. The last page is not fully displayed. I have over 600 dances in my HUD and use sequences so it is important to me to gain access to all dances

  28. Keiki Lemieux Says:

You probably need to upgrade your AO notecard to the new ZHAO II format. Check out this page for more info on that: http://imakehuddles.com/wordpress/?page_id=57

As for missing dances. The Dance notecards should work fine after the upgrade. Please contact Connor Trudeau for direct help with your Dance notecards.

  29. vivian blackheart Says:

ok so the problem is the dances are inteuppted but the ao poses in between. how do i fix this/?

  30. Kaitlyn Merlin Says:

Ok, I have been reading and trying different things for a few hours now to no avail. I have a vista AO and another AO I would like to put them both in if possible, but even one (working) on would be great. I really want to use this thing! I followed all the directions and got my anims added and my notecard renamed and added but now it is coming up like regular anims. It is not working like an AO. I would really love to be contacted in world to fix this. It is too much to write here. Thanks!

  31. Keiki Lemieux Says:

Kaitlyn, I’m sure you can get both working. Please contact Connor Trudeau for help setting up your AO.

  32. Starheart Erdhein Says:

I have the same problem! My AO animations and ncs (there were several sets) are in the HUDDLE and they come up as reg. animations and not a grouped together integrated AO.

  33. Keiki Lemieux Says:

Starheart, did you load the AO notecard? And did you get any errors when you did? Or did you just put everything into the HUD?

  34. Chavantei Says:

  36. Clementine Says:

    Hey there …
My HUD works pretty fine, but only one thing: I have the animation VATYPE5.

I have it in the HUD and also in the AO-female notecard:
    [ Typing ]VATYPE5.
But it never works when I’m typing in a local chat.
    Why not?

  37. Keiki Lemieux Says:

@Clementine, Typing override is not supported yet. It was not part of the original ZHAO II script that I used as a basis for the AO in the EZ Animator.

  38. Beth Pashinin Says:

I have been using an MS Vista Girl3 AO. Is it possible to remove the no copy animations from it and ad them to the EZ animator?

  39. Redwood Rhiadra Says:

Beth, rez your Vista AO on the ground. Right-click, choose Edit, and go to the contents tab. You can then drag the animations to a folder in your inventory. (Of course, the Vista AO will stop working after this.) After that, rez the Huddle on the ground, right-click-edit and drag the animations onto the Huddle’s contents tab. Then you just need to configure a notecard to use the animations. (There might already be a notecard called Default in your old AO – if there is, you may be able to cut-and-paste that or convert it to the ZHAO format used by the Huddle).

  40. kreechur gloom Says:

i added a note card titled AO kreechur with a couple of stands sits and walks. but it just lets me do one walk one stand one sit. is there a way too cycle through the poses automatically? i dont understand.

  41. kreechur gloom Says:

ugh this is complicated. isnt there an ao i can buy and put it in my huddles and it just work? like a good one with cool stands ? how can i do that?

  42. kreechur gloom Says:

ok i just went too the huddles store and bought ana infinity ao. i opened it copied it too inventory. put my huddles on the ground. clicked edit content waited for it too load. dragged my ana inifinity ao folder too the hudles. let it load. closed the edit. picked up the huddles .wore the huddles. and it still doesnt work. im goin through a lot of money here will someone help me?

its easier just to get an ao and not use huddles
    it seems
this starting too frustrate the heck out of me

  43. kreechur gloom Says:

ok i tried everything i dont know what im doing a waste of 2500 lindens unless you help me

  44. Ferris Greymoon Says:

Is there a way to add a typing override animation to our HUDDLES-based AO?

  45. Ro Winkler Says:

Well i use sine wave AO , no notecard inside , how can i make the note card , bc i dont know how . Tkx

  46. Keiki Lemieux Says:

@Ro, open the notecard in your HUD named ~AO_Default and follow the directions for adding your animations to the AO. I’m going to have Connor Trudeau contact you.
