Adding and Removing Animations
Adding animations to your EZAD
To add an animation to your EZAD:
- Drop your EZ Animator onto the ground.
- Right click on the EZAD and choose Edit.
- Click the “More…” button and then choose the “Content” tab.
- Open your inventory and using your mouse, drag the animations from your inventory into the Contents of the EZAD.
- Wait to make sure the animations have transferred to the EZAD.
- Right click on the EZAD and choose “Take”.
Important notes to help avoid inventory loss:
- Do not wear the EZAD from the ground. Always take it then wear it from your inventory. Wearing something that is sitting on the ground can lead to inventory loss, since it doesn’t immediately save the edited object to the main asset server. Taking it first and then wearing it does save it properly to the SL asset server.
- Move no copy animations one at a time (or move them only a few at a time). Do not attempt to transfer an entire folder of animations at once.
- I now also recommend that after adding many animations, you leave your HUDDLE on the ground an extra 5-10 minutes to make sure all the animations have transferred and saved to SL’s database.
How do you know if the animations have transferred? You should see them in the Content window for the EZAD. It make take a short while (10-15 seconds) for SL to update the Content window. If it is not updating, touch another object and then select the EZAD again.
Also note that when you pick up the EZ Animator, it may not return to the folder it came from. Often you will find it in your Object folder instead.
Once you have added animations, you may want to create a notecard with a list of animations for a particular category of animations. For instance, you will likely want a notecard for your dances. Please read this page for more information on how to do that: Notecards and Animations Lists
Removing Animations
To remove animations from your EZAD:
- Drag the EZ Animator from your inventory to the ground
- Right click on the EZAD and choose “Edit”
- Click the “More…” button on the edit window
- Click the content tab
- With your mouse, click and drag the animation from your EZ Animator to a folder in your inventory
If the animation is copyable, it will copy to your inventory, leaving the original animation in your EZ Animator. To remove a copyable animation, right click on the name of the animation and choose “delete”. Note that this will immediately delete that copy of the animation. It won’t end up in your trash. It’s gone. Do not delete ‘no copy’ animations that you want to keep.
Sounds, Landmarks, Objects and Notecards
The process to add and remove sounds, landmarks, objects and notecards is the same as for animations.
Gestures should not be added to your EZAD because scripts cannot play gestures. You can only play gestures by activating them in your inventory and using either the function keys or chat commands to fire them.
Scripts should not be added to your EZAD unless you are a coder and know exactly what you are adding, or you are directed to add scripts in order to update your EZAD.
Not sure if something is an animation or a gesture or a script? You can tell by the icon which appears next to the name. Take a look at this guide:

I must have missed the obvious, because I was sure I read that there is a silent mode, but my husband and I have been reading this site and the notecards and we cannot find how to turn the silent mode on? Being a dancer, reducing the spam from the huddles has become an important issue. Thank you.
February 21st, 2008 at 10:30 pm
I have not added that from the old notecard help to the new website here. I will do that within the next 24 hours for you. However, silent mode silences the messages that are displayed to you. If you are experiencing unnecessary spam that everyone can see, it’s probably for one of two reasons.
If you are seeing “Touched” all the time look at this blog post: http://imakehuddles.com/wordpress/?p=11
If you are seeing the names of dances in general chat, then the dance is misspelled on you notecard. If the text doesn’t match an animation in the inventory, it assumes that you meant to say it and it displays it as chat.
February 22nd, 2008 at 2:36 pm
Thank you for taking time to reply. It is spamming the room in green with the names of the dances, and then not showing the animation of the dance. I did find the “silent mode” button on the hud, it does not seem to affect anything at the moment. I did type the names exactly, as they are no modify they do not allow copy/paste unfortunately. I will experiment with spaces before/after to see if it could be something like that. I am slowly making my way through all of the forum information and such and hopefully will not have too many silly questions.
Quick thank you for all the work that went in to making huddles. Looking like a very pretty bit of programing!
February 22nd, 2008 at 2:40 pm
Another quick question… how many prims does the hud add to the ground? I cannot put it on the ground at my home as it says my land is too full? I have 22 prims still free at my home so this leaves me wondering. Am using sandboxes atm but would be nice to be able to work with it at home.
February 22nd, 2008 at 6:10 pm
I can’t remember off the top of my head, but it’s about 35 prims.
I know it can be frustrating when you see that green text, but I guarantee that it doesn’t match exactly. If you are having a problem figuring out what the problem is, use the Copy/Paste method here: http://imakehuddles.com/wordpress/?page_id=44
“To get the exact name of the animation, you can right click on it and choose properties. An info window will pop up and you can copy the animation name directly from that pop up by using Ctrl-C. You can then paste the name of the animation directly into the notecard using Ctrl-V.”

thanks the spam is gone =)

I’ve added all my dances to my HUD but still not sure how to add them to the ball I wear on my left shoulder.
Also, is there a way that people can see my dances and pick what they want to dance. So far, I’ve only been able to figure out how to “animate” them where they only dance what I’m dancing.

@Angela- You don’t add dances to the Dance Ball. It is simply there for others to click on it, so they can invite themselves to dance with you.
There is not currently a way for them to pick dances from your HUD.

I lopaded some 10 animations in just as you said. on the ground “edit” “more” “content”… but they dont show on the display? I KNOW i did something wrong M8! Not 2 good at this stuff.
Dance well tho…LOLOLOL
March 3rd, 2008 at 8:52 am
@cudgell, this is probably something that should be handled directly. I’ll IM you to see if we can figure out what the problem is.
March 10th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
I am having the same problem with dance animations I have put into the huddle not showing 🙁
March 10th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
@Indigo, send me an IM directly. That is probably the best way to troubleshoot a problem like this.
April 2nd, 2008 at 3:46 am
I’m feeling a little slow tonight.
I bought the deluxe huddle and the bought five of the outrider animations to go inside of it. I copied them (1 at a time) per the instructions and I see them in the content of the huddle.
However once I wear the huddle I cannot see them.
I tried taking the stock AO_Male card and adding them to it but consistantly get error messages. Someone suggested it was case sensitive so I opened the animation properties window and did a control-C copy to make sure the spelling and case worked.
Like I said feeling kind of stupid right now any suggestions?

@Michael, I’d have to take a look at your HUDDLE to see what the problem is. Sometimes people will be load animations into their HUDDLE and then wear a different copy of the HUDDLE. Make sure you are wearing the copy that has the animations inside.
Also, sometimes people don’t realize that the < < and >> buttons are for paging through your animations once they are inside the HUDDLE. Hit the all button and use those buttons to see all the animations inside.
I would need to see the exact error messages to tell you what the problem is. If it says it can’t find an animation, it means the animation name is misspelled or that you have an extra space somewhere, something like that. There are some other errors too that can happen though. I would IM me directly in world for more help.

If you have put the animations into your huddle and taken it off the ground, it copies itself into your inventory. When you make your new notecard filled with your anims, as already noted write them exactly and only one per line. Save the notecard and rename it to something sensible.
Now this is the important part: BEFORE you take the first huddle off the ground, the one you transfered the animations into, RENAME IT! Rename it something that distinguishes itself from the other copies. That way when you lay it back down to put the notecard into it you are not wondering which huddle you have to use when you finally pick it back up.
That is the problem I had with the green spamming of the animation names. Once I went through all the huddles and finally found the one i have put the actual anims ones in. Loaded the notecard into it and no problems after that.
April 4th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
@Serafina, great tip. Another way you can find the HUD that you have added animations to is look for the EZAD which has the (no copy) tag at the end. Normally the EZAD is copiable, so if you see one with (no copy) after it, it means that there are no copy animations inside of it.
April 16th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
This is the most confusing thing I ever purchased in SL. The only AO that works is the sit. It says nothing is loaded. In the contents folder it shows all the “AW” animations but none of them work.
Loading an animation I already own also didn’t work. It just disappeared. It isn’t in contents and no longer in my inventory.
Thanks, I’ll be sure to tell all of my friends “CX”

@ConductorX, I’d be happy to help you. I’ll contact you directly in world. I’m sure I can help clear up any problems you are having.
April 28th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
Hello! We all love your animator! Some of us have gotten together and are hoping for a new feature in the cards. Take for example the “Dances” card; where you add the dance name, possibly add a quoted “title” for the dance. Example:
[butterscotch “Free Dance!”]
-use the quoted as the button title in the Huddles Animator. Should be pretty simple to add the variable, if null, then use dance name as the title, if not null, display the user’s choice. Thoughts? Possible? :))
April 29th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Brannon, this actually already exists. You can name any animation or macro like this:
[NAME]Free Dance!|butterscotch
For the above, Free Dance! will appear in the button, and the EZAD will play the animation “butterscotch”

Hey guys, first thanks for this awesome HUD ^_^ I’m still a newbie to SL, but with the help of a friend who uses HUDDLES I was able to get a few of my dances in there. I’m still having problems with the basic “getdown” dance, and yes, I didn’t realize at first that it was case sensative. Anywho, thank you very much for that great tip Keiki about just copying the name from the properties window…wish I had thought of that at first when making my loops lol.
And thank you as well seraphina, that was a great tip. I was just leaving my inventory window open so when I picked the modified version off of the ground it was highlighted…renaming it makes a lot more sense and easier for us blondes too!
Thank you again Keiki for making this great little program, its the best thing since sliced bread for me!

I need help also i cant ivite people to dance, and when i use the walk he walks in place real fast in world john menkes
July 13th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
John, look at this page for info on how to invite people to dance: http://imakehuddles.com/wordpress/?page_id=43
As for the walk, did you add the walk animation to your AO config note card? If not, you should look at the help pages in the Animation Override section.

I am trying to find out how many dances can I put in my huddles Deluxe. and if the number is say more than 25 then why only some of my dances don’t work. and can you recomend at lest 3 place i can get dance the look as good as sine wave.
September 23rd, 2008 at 9:14 am
There is no maximum number. You can put 100s of animations into it. Could you elaborate on what you mean by “don’t work”.
Animazoo has Copyable dances. That would always be my first stop.
September 26th, 2008 at 10:05 am
Keike thank you for animazoo if found it and there dances worked great. I also figured out why my dances “don’t work” If you don’t put the names on the note card exactly the way they are named they will not play in the huddle. so I renamed the dances to shorten them and then matched them to my notecard and everthing worked out lovely. So if there are any more places you can recomend for more dances I would be thankful.
October 18th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
Can the HUDDLES accept gestures?
October 18th, 2008 at 5:04 pm
No, scripted devices cannot play gestures. It’s a limitation of SL.
November 10th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Hi!
(Be prepared to hear about me a lot: i feel very excited about this and know this will be a whole lot of fun, but for now, i feel as intelligent as a goldfish…)
So i didnt even try with animations. I only tried to add my landmarks into the EZAD. I see them in the content folder but when i close the hud and take it back from the ground, the landmarks dont seem to be in the EZAD anymore. I tried it a couple of times, one landmark at a time, and I jsut dont get what i am doing wrong…
Its the first thing Im trying with my new EZAD… thanks for any help!
November 12th, 2008 at 11:44 am
The key is to add the landmark names to a notecard. Did you try that?
December 16th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
Hmm-what am I missing. When I open the EZAD contents I see a whole bunch of things: animations, objects – squares, poofs (?) landmarks, scripts, notecards etc.
are all these supposed to remain there?
some have initials ANO AW, etc in terms of AOs I have only one in each of standing and sitting.
Also in the Huddles folder I have dance ball, group radio gift box and a script called “give inventory”
I don’t know what to do with most of this stuff outside the animations themselves – where are the instructions for, say “poofs” etc.
December 16th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
It’s all here on the main help page. It just takes some time to work through all the features: http://imakehuddles.com/wordpress/about/
December 26th, 2008 at 7:24 am
I unfortunately put a dance I purchased into the Dance Ball. Now it has gone missing from the ball and my inventory.
Can anyone tell me how I can locate the dance or have I lost it for good?
Thanks
December 26th, 2008 at 7:46 am
My guess is that the dance is in a different copy of your dance ball. Open your inventory search for “Dance Ball”. If you have numerous copies, look for the one which is “no copy” and edit that one. The dance should be inside. You can then drag it back to your inventory and then transfer it to the HUD.
December 31st, 2008 at 10:23 am
My Huddles worked perfectly for a few weeks and now it has simply stopped. While it was working, I had added lots of dances and other animations. When I tried to add more, I think I may have overloaded it. Removing animations doesn’t help. I get this message in my local chat whenever I try to wear the HUD (I renamed my HUD ‘!DANCE!DANCE!’…
DANCE!DANCE! [script:~ZHAO II for EZAD v1.2.1]: Script run-time error
DANCE!DANCE! [script:~ZHAO II for EZAD v1.2.1]: Stack-Heap Collision
What, if anything, can I do to reset it or fix it? Thanks.
December 31st, 2008 at 11:42 am
Lyndi, first you will want to do a manual reset of your HUD, it’s like rebooting your computer when it goes wonky. Next to prevent that from happening again, you will want to change your AO notecard. You probably want to remove a couple stands from the notecard. Bascically you are taking too much memory with the script. IM me directly if you need help with this.
March 22nd, 2009 at 11:27 am
Hi, I have been working on adding all my anims to the huddle but now I am wondering if there is a way to loop them for an AO so I don’t have to manually scroll thru them. Thanks!
March 22nd, 2009 at 6:59 pm
Oops, disregard that last post. I figured how to add the whole AO. Thanks. I still have questions but I posted them on the AO page.
July 22nd, 2009 at 10:47 am
Um – this is a silly question maybe, but it seems to me that we might have to manually edit a notecard to add the names of our new dances. Then we add that notecard in to the content of the HUD.
Is that right?
In that case, the instructions on the top of the web page don’t actually say that you have to do that.
So is that what I need to do? I have dragged the dances into the HUD, they don’t show up, then I checked the note card and they aren’t there, so that is probably why they aren’t showing up – but your instructions don’t actually say anything about editing a notecard.
So I don’t know what to do.
July 23rd, 2009 at 4:04 am
Yep, that’s what I have to do!
Would it be too much to ask that the instructions actually include that step, please?
July 23rd, 2009 at 9:59 am
@scribblywench, if you look at the main instruction page, there is an entire section on notecards. You will want to look at this page: http://imakehuddles.com/wordpress/about/notecards-animation-lists/
I will add a note on this page to direct people there.
January 19th, 2010 at 11:06 am
Hi, I am really loving my new Huddles, but one thing: Is there no way to add a custom typing animation? [ Typing ]
I really think you should add this neccessary feature, Please let me know if there is a way, and I just can’t find it anywhere.
Some ZHAO’s have this option in the notecards, down at the very bottom….
But my Huddles doesn’t seem to recognize. Please help? Thank you so much! Have a wonderful day.
Love and White Light, Gritter Oompa.
February 13th, 2010 at 9:03 pm
I am very frustrated. i have added a dance but it does not show up as an option for me to use.
Also, as a female, i dont want the male stances/walk and i have deleted them but they are still there.
so please help me out with this. pls im me on second life and i will drop whatever i am doing and reply.
